Photo of specular hematite

Specular hematite

Hematite forms in a number of ways, and in its specular form it's as masses of little silvery flakes which produce a shimmery, glittering effect. These slices have one surface lacquered, which highlights the effect nicely. They are from Marquette County in Michigan.
